Lance Keene
CEO & Founder
Lance’s journey in high-stakes computing began in 1980 as a 74F Programmer/Analyst for the U.S. Army. This foundation of discipline and technical rigor led him to found Keene Systems Inc. in 1987 while studying at the Florida Institute of Technology.
A serial entrepreneur and technical pioneer, Lance has co-founded industry-shaping firms like Cybex Corp (industrial robotics) and The Sanbrook Co. Inc. (packaging industry software). Under his leadership, Keene Systems has spent 39 years evolving alongside the digital landscape, specializing in high-performance web solutions built on ASP.NET and SQL Server.
A Legacy of Trusted Solutions Lance has designed and delivered custom software for some of the world’s most recognized brands, including:
Fortune 500 & Global Leaders: Pfizer, IBM, Texas Instruments, and Bayer.
Consumer Giants: Calvin Klein, Elizabeth Arden, Mary Kay, and Hershey.
Food & Logistics: Hormel, McCormick Spices, Sara Lee, and Ocean Spray.
A Foundation of Continuous Innovation
Lance believes that elite engineering requires a commitment to lifelong education. His academic and professional training spans global institutions:
Technical Core: The Army Computer Science School, Florida Institute of Technology, and University of Maryland (Heidelberg, Germany).
Strategic Growth: Tony Robbins Business Mastery Bootcamp (Fiji) and advanced studies at Vincennes University and Plymouth State University.
Multilingual Leadership: Fluent in English, Spanish, German, and French, Lance founded the Lowell Spanish MeetUp and the Plymouth French MeetUp groups.
Engineering Beyond the Office: The Keene Castle
When he’s not architecting software, Lance applies his engineering mindset to physical structures. He is currently spearheading a massive off-grid construction project: Keene Castle in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
This net-zero, self-sustaining concrete fortress serves as a real-world manifestation of his philosophy: building things that last, function efficiently, and inspire others to rethink what’s possible with alternative energy and innovative building techniques.
Lance also holds a 3rd-degree black belt (Sandan) in Uechi Ryu karate, bringing the same focus and discipline from the dojo to the development lab.
